“I offer this practice to the Sadguru, the Teacher within all things,
The Teacher that is the Prana (life) from which my body emerged,
The Teacher that sustains and nourishes me with each breath,
The Teacher whose lessons are in every life experience —- even pain and death, May this practice open me to the wisdom of the Sadguru
That my mind may know peace,
That my heart may know compassion,
And my life may offer peace and compassion to all beings.”
Om Shanti, Om Peace.

YOGA IS FREEDOM FROM TRADITION FROM RELIGION BY DIVING DEEP TO THE HEART.
This can be called a Metta pattern, a universal pattern that is beyond all patterns. Forms appear but whatever appears has under it other forms, eventually that superficial form slips away. The mind rests on the metta, as a child rests on his mom’s lap.
There are universals beyond time and place, but the time & place affect. Have to keep in mind that there were beliefs in reincarnation or caste system.
Wisdom & Spirituality unfold as a tree grows…..steady & gradual. Every tree in a forest is unique but each has the same goal, to reach light.
Various systems are unique, yet each has the same purpose, to grow towards enlightenment. The development of limbs doesn’t unfold linearly, but sprout when time is appropriate. No need to rush, it will expand as our understanding of the depths of yoga mature. You’ll see an evolution that carries the common thread as we pass through Shamanism, the Vedas, the Upanishads, Epic (Bhagavad Gita), Classic (Sutras) and on up through Tantric and Modern Yoga.
Vinyasa is another word for this natural growth. “nyasa” means to place and “vi” in a special way. It’s not just a random sequence of action, but one that awakens and sustains consciousness. As we bring the techniques of vinyasa to bear, we are open to evolution. Desicachar says “Vinyasa is I believe, one of the richest concepts to emerge from Yoga as it requires that we cultivate an awareness that links each action to the next. It’s interesting to note that the Gita takes place in a single pause….much as the pause between action – reaction so we end up with conscious placement, conscious movement, grace.
This embodied discussion is to show the connections between these ideas and to catalyze your own philosophy. It is just a beginning journey and intended as a jumping off point to your own studies. Begin at the back of your yoga mat. Looking forward to the front of the mat, divide it into sixths (about 1 foot). Each section equals approximately one thousand years.
