Lesson 4 – Professional Essentials: Tools for Transformational Teaching

In this Lesson, our goal is to empower YOU so that you in turn can empower your students. To do this, we’ve included 5 Topics (see below). A sixth topic, Innovative Teaching, focuses on refining your teaching style. Following the adage, first you imitate, then you integrate and finally you innovate, you will team with Shanti faculty to explore a variety of master teacher styles. These Practicums include the opportunity to  receive feedback on word choice and tone of voice, integration of anatomical study as well as sutras, poetry, koans and key teachings from the yoga tradition. Partnered with your mentor, you will explore transformational teaching methodologies, class designs, and experiment with various sequencing techniques including how to present workshops and themed series. These hours will be a mix of analyzing videos of transformational teaching, submitting videos of your own teaching and in person practicums.
